Simplest chili mac - food storage recipe
« on: November 19, 2018, 12:35:59 PM »
I love collecting food storage recipes, and the simpler the better.
They don't get much simpler than this.

One could make this over any cooking fire or device.  It can be scaled up easily as well which I learned
was also important for variable size groups with hunting guiding outfits I worked for out West.

From my friend Cheryl Driggs

Chili Macaroni

1 can (15 oz) chili without beans
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1 and 1/2 cups water
2-3 teaspoons chili powder
1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni

In a large skillet (or pot,) combine canned chili, tomato sauce, water and chili powder.  Stir well.
Bring to a boil.  Add macaroni.  Cover and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until
macaroni is tender.

Serves 4

I LOVE chili mac. I usually just open a can of Hormel chili with beans and mix it with some cooked elbow macaroni. Quick and easy. Probably not as tasty as the above recipe though. I'll be trying that one soon!
