Expansion plans

I talked before about buying the property next door to mine. Now it looks like I might be buying half instead - 2 1/2 acres.

It's got septic, well, and electric.

It's kind of pear-shaped and has a good building lot on it, but one of the most intriguing things to me is how cleared off it is. I'm kind of leaning toward cutting down the remaining trees and making a fruit and nut orchard.

A strong conviction that something must be done is the parent of many bad measures.

I love having cleared land but it requires more maintance than wooded land to keep it cleared.      At a minimum you'll need to bush-hog it once a year or hit it with a lawn mower a few times a year.

My neighbor down the road with the 6 cows.  He told me the reason he got the cows was he was tired of mowing all the grass.  The cows keep it trimmed nicely.  In the Winter he does bring in rolls of hay and uses a feed supplement.  I might be tempted to try one of those mini cows.

It is just a problem to keep goats in.  Seems like you are forever rounding them up and getting them back in the fenced field.  But yes, goats will definite keep the grass trimmed.

Girls are good, but yes they are very hard to keep it in. Cows are easier to deal with in my opinion
