The Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris had 3 beehives outside on their roof that SURVIVED the fire!!

Yes it does.     A thousand years ago the church used lots of candles, tons of beeswax was needed for the candles until roughly 1200-1400 AD when the church started using fewer candles during services.     

Because of the huge amount of candle wax required honey was plentiful and inexpensive enough for the common folk to make short mead for daily purification of the water they drank along with a little buzz.       After the church started using fewer candles mead became less common for people to drink.

Some say that the "wine" Jesus made was actually mead.
