This is the kind I use at the BOL. You can get a surprising amount of food under them. You don't use a box spring, so they're significantly higher than regular beds.

nice looking and well built looking. What keeps the mattress from sliding around though? looks like it just sets on top

The mattress sits on it fine. Every once in a while when I sit on the very end to put my shoes on, it smushes the end in a bit and I pull it out, but I've mostly adapted to sitting on the side instead.
