My garden gun is a Heritage Rough Rider with 22lr CCI shot shells....pattern is tighter than that smooth bore....can't beat a $90 garden gun.

I have a 9mm Chiappa garden gun.  I use it to shoot birds from my blueberries.  I try to trim them back early before nesting and egg hatch.  That keeps them down to a tolerable level.
