Colt ceasing production of AR15 for civilians
« on: September 20, 2019, 11:12:53 AM »
Per WSB Radio, Colt announced they will only sell AR-15s to the military and police,  and they will stop producing them for the civilian market.
They emerged from bankruptcy 3 years ago.

First, the key word is "suspend", which is different from "stop" in that it indicates that there will be a resumption.

"Colt’s chief executive officer, Dennis Veilleux, says it is not permanently ending production but believes there is already an adequate supply of sporting rifles on the market. He said in a statement Thursday the company will concentrate on fulfilling military and law enforcement contracts with its rifle manufacturing."

Here's some read between the lines: Colt needs all production lines to meet a very large rush order from an "overseas government".
“Our country demands all our strength, all our energies. To resist the powerful combination now forming against us will require every man at his place.
If victorious, we will have everything to hope for in the future. If defeated, nothing will be left for us to live for.”

Yep.

The antis are having a field day and it's sad/funny to watch. They are, as is their way, claiming a "victory".

Odd, that this was kind of done and dusted in the firearm community a week or so ago. Guess it needed the right (and by right I mean wrong) "spin" to go national in the MSM.
A strong conviction that something must be done is the parent of many bad measures.

Yes and we get a whole different story from the media.  Seems every body and their brother are manufacturing AR15 style rifles dropping the price to the point Colt can't make any money, SO they called a production halt.  What are you to believe these days !  When the Colt models get scarce then the price may rise ? Maybe not..

These days, a company with a quality C-N-C machine and the plans... whos willing to buy a quality billet, can mill out an excellent upper or lower.   With or with out the Colt name, good ARs are out there on the market.  You just have to look past the names on them and look for the quality of that parts.
