Cane Gringing & Syrup Cooking
« on: November 15, 2019, 02:07:58 PM »
The Georgia Museum of Agriculture in Tifton (ABAC).  Celebrate Fall with a South Georgia tradition - cane grinding and syrup cooking.  I am told they will hook up their mule to do the grinding with an old cane mill.

Saturday Nov. 23 from 9AM to 4PM just off I75 in Tifton, Ga.

Brings back memories of many, many South Georgia Thanksgivings. Different people but always in a lean-to with a built-in wood-fired pot that doubled as a "hog scalder".

Always a bottle of something going around. The first time I got the bottle was one of those life milestones.
A strong conviction that something must be done is the parent of many bad measures.

I so wish I could attend! It's been many moons since I've been to the Ag Museum and Ag Fair. Difference is, back then I wasn't committing things to memory the way I do now.
