I just recently found out that SWISS MISS Indulgent Collection Hot Chocolate is 99.9% caffeine free.   I know that doesn't sound like too much of a big deal, but for those that are caffeine sensitive or a cardiac patient, this is a good thing to hide in your comfort stash.   I bought two boxes … 8 envelopes each and stuck them in the larder.  for what its worth, PUBLIX grocery store runs them as part of the regular BOGO program just like all the others... be sure to look at the top of the box to make sure that you get the caffeine free ones!

Don't forget to buy a good manual can opener. Walmart and Publix sell a good quality one that is made in America https://www.walmart.com/ip/EZ-DUZ-IT-3028-Deluxe-Can-Opener-with-Grips-Black/45777327. Don't buy a cheap one it won't last if your using it everyday. I'm using the same one we bought in 1984, but bought a second one just in case. For older people or people with arthritis you might consider a wall mounted model it takes very little effort to use https://www.lehmans.com/product/wall-mounted-can-opener/ .

We got a Pampered Chef one some 20+ years ago and it still works great. Got it when the kids were small because it is the "Safe Edge" smooth cut design. I have opened thousands of cans of all sizes... even #10 and it still works great. they don't make the exact model any longer but this is their newest version and if it is worthy of the name, It's Great!

Today was a trip to the big city.  Got my car serviced.  It has been over a year since the oil has been changed.  Then again the engine does not usually run much, it's mostly the electric motor.  But I had a tire problem.  It needed air two or more times a week.  They found the nail and patched it.
Went by the HUGE Kroger store so we stopped.  Told the wife I wanted to check the price on rice & pasta.  I got a 5lb bag of rice for $2 + change.  Pasta I got 6ea 16oz boxes for 49cents a box.  You had to buy 6 to get that price.  So now I am vacuum sealing in wide mouth jars.  If I am going to store spare jars, the might as well be full.  Now I have 9 more jars of pasta and 3 of rice.
Well is is not flour, but it will have to do.  No more room for more flour.  I guess it will have to do.  My instructions are NOT to tear down my barn and build a bigger one.

Walmart is out of stock on the he EZ Duz It can opener, but you can pick them at most Publix stores for a similar price (mine was a little cheaper and has red handles instead of black.)  It is my back up for my old Swingaway from the 80s.  The Chinese bought and ruined thst brand.  There ought to be a law!  :)

My wife likes to shop sales, especially at the grocery store.  She came home from the grocery store this morning with 5ea 5lb bags of flour.  They were on sale $2.00 per 5lb bag.  She also came home with 6ea containers of cool whip.  They were buy one get one free.  She makes a lot of blueberry delight! and other deserts with cool whip.  She is quickly filling that new freezer.

She does not like it when I buy from the prepper long term food storage places.  Says she can get it a lot cheaper.....You just have to be patient and shop the sales.

Hi everyone. I tried to post every week last year and failed. So I'm starting over again this year.  Using this system at the end of a year you will end up with:

Food Storage Weekly Challenge

300 lbs. wheat—–need 600 lbs.–includes rolled oats, pasta,
12 lbs. pasta
50 lbs. rice
50 lbs. flour
10 lbs. rolled oats
100 lbs. sugar—-need 120 lbs. –includes honey, brown sugar
10 lbs. honey
6 lbs. brown sugar
20 lbs. powdered milk—-need 150 lbs.
12 cans evaporated milk—
3 lbs. shortening—- need 70 lbs.
3 lb. oil
2 qt. mayonnaise
5 lbs. peanut butter
2 qt. mayonnaise
5 lbs. peanut butter
24 cans of tuna fish—-need 40 lbs. of meats
20 lbs. beans—need 190 lbs of legumes
1 lb. yeast
1 lb. baking soda
1 lb. baking powder
12 lbs. salt
2 bottles vitamins
1 bottle of aspirin
11 cans cream of mushroom soup
20 cans of cream of chicken soup
40 cans of tomato soup
21 boxes macaroni and cheese

This system is designed with two people in mind so adjust it accordingly. There is also nothing saying you have to stick to it exactly. If you don't like tomato soup substitute something else.

Week 1 – 6 lbs. salt

You can use ether list or both.
