I bought some cans of canned clams this week, with an expiration date of Jan.2024. If you store potatoes, or have lots of canned potatoes (won't be as good), clam chowder is only a step away. You can use your chives, which are around all year, garlic, onion and throw in a dab or butter from your freezer. I used a pound of butter that I intentionally left in the freezer for 18 months. It was just fine. If you fill that little basket that hangs in your chest freezer, with pounds of butter, you can store a years worth. Life without butter just isn't worth living...
We also like polar brand smoked salmon, great of crackers for cocktail hour... Anchovies stack in a small spot with your canned goods (don't groan, some of us like them). A years worth talk us very little space. Besides pizza, they are great in your homemade pasta sauce. You won't know they are there, but they add something. I got the idea from an award winning Italian Restaurant.

We are holding at 20 weeks worth right now.... We are adding as we rotate some items. We had a can of pineapples explode in the larder... what a mess. Added in some packages of wild rice, (as an add in), got a deal on papertowels. having problems with the garden this year... got the area cleaned up... but running behind getting everything growing. Plants just don't want to cooperate!

Another good storage item, along with foil and cling wrap type stuff, is a good supply of cupcake liners. I have gone through 60 0f them in about two months. This time of year, I make lots of muffins, using blueberries and over ripe bananas. If you store cupcake mix, for a quick treat and don't can't to cook from scratch, these help. With so much to do, I don't want to take the time to clean out the entire cupcake tin, just the top. You can also make little breakfast baked egg dishes in them.
Viet Nam is going to be keeping most of their rice, due to weather issues this year. This is according to the ice age farmer. Prices will of course go up if this happens and we will have shortages. Wild rice has been harder to find recently. I always try to replace what I use. Wild rice has been on my grocery list for two months now.
I like Rice Select, Royal Blend. It is a mixture. I cook it with different broths for variety. Have not seen it lately.

We have finished the first of 2 ea 25 lb bag of sugar. The wife told me Wallyworld still had the 25 lb bags and wanted to know if she should replace it. I said not now as canning season for up is on the wind down and we will be using less for the next 6 months. Watching current events may make me revisit that decision !

I always replace what I use. I have my food storage in the basement in cans but buy what I need and replace it as soon as I open the bag. It isn't going to get any cheaper than it is today. I haven't seen any prices going down lately.

How fortuitous that this weeks food storage suggest stocking up on food bars. Aces posted this yesterday
http://seprepnet.com/forum/index.php/topic,4407.msg26868/topicseen.html#new
So you can stock up on bars or the indigents to make them.
