Baked Potato in a can

I have been thinking about the simplest recipes I can find for camping and outdoor cooking since my husband is not great cook and not a camper.
So I have to keep it simple for us if needed for the future.

I stumbled onto the KOA website and found this dead simple recipe so far - using a can with a tinfoil "lid" as an "oven" for baking a potato in a campfire's coals.
I will use olive oil instead of butter for my own medically-prescribed diet.  Several other good ones on this site.

I remembered reading about cooking using cans from regular storage containers and a quick search found this.

I would ere on the side of caution and at least burn the can and then clean it very well before trying this.

Tin foil wrapped dinners is a Boy Scout staple.  If you cut up the potato, it cooks faster and you can season it when you prep.  Make another (or add to it) with hamburger, onions, peppers, seasonings.  Mark the foil with mustard on the outside so you know whose is whose.

I remember Farside cooking a chicken in a trash can at a campout one time. I think maybe it might have been when we did the one in South Carolina. He used a galvanized steel trash can and it worked beautifully.
