We have been canning and using the Ball blue book for 40 years or longer.

What I want to know is why would anyone want to pay that much money for 2009 copy of the Blue Book?

Yup, that's insane, unless the 2015s are no longer available.  What's stupid is that they can go directly to the USDA website for Home Canning and get all the instructions for free, along with all the latest updates re: oven canning, InstaPots - no on both, etc.
