Of course I think we all did and was simply hoping to remain polite. No one here would have jumped on this, at least we hope not

I really don't think he's being subversive.

Especially in a position of some responsibility here I try to be as welcoming as I can and curb some criticism, but if he's already gone after what I feel amounts to a tantrum....

I don't think he's smart enough to be subversive.

A subvert would be intelligent and charming and make you want to engage.

Well that was short and sweet. I am sure I am not the only one that noticed that there were a few holes in the story. But needless to say, after re-reading all the posts nothing was written to push him or her away. Just to slow up and properly go through a vetting process on both sides. I wish him or her the best of luck in finding what he or she is looking for.
My guess is that the same end result will happen as before since the process being used has not changed.

Yes I didn't sense any ill intentions just a real urgency to correct the problems going on for them. I do not like red lights and traffic on my way to work but not too many shortcuts around it worth taking that doesn't have you driving longer.

Shortcuts in this process no matter the urgency should be considered carefully. If we can not say that to each other then somebody call the PC police please.  :)

Thanks

Well, sadly mom has passed away, but on the bright side she left me as sole heir to her estate so now i don't have to be concerned with all the time and resources that would be wasted. I'm not saying that they are'nt good but those things only work for certain people and i am not the kind of individual who goes in for that sort of thing. I definitely am not interested in going to campouts and meetups and such. I would much prefer to simply meet someone for coffee and talk for a few hours and then build from there. If I go camping I am certainly not going to go where I will be surrounded by who knows how many people are going to be there. I go camping to get away from people not be surrounded by them. oh well, now that i have my own land i guess I am in the driver seat now.

Sorry for your loss 1scout.  I'm glad you have something to remember her by and something that seems to be very much needed.  Good luck to you.  If you want to invite people on your journey, you may want to think about toning down the intensity.

I'm relatively new on here, too.  It's my first introduction into any prepping type forum.  It seems to me that wanting a group or individual to share their home (land or actual home) after just a cup of coffee (or 2 or 3) is asking for a dangerous level of trust that you haven't earned.  It's not to say that you aren't worthy of that trust, you just haven't earned it yet.  And the manner in which you dismissed the meetups and campouts offered on here is insulting and hostile (IMO).  It is your loss.  I've been to a few now and haven't met a person I didn't like.  I also got to ask a lot of questions that a lot of people took the time to answer.

Good luck.

The other thing no one has mentioned as a benefit of getting to REALLY know people is that if you are caught out on the road during a regional or national emergency, or even just an auto breakdown, you most likely know folks in different areas of Georgia who would be happy to give you shelter and help you on your way home.   There are several folks I know from campouts that I've told if they are on my side of I-75 or in my area & get stuck.....they have a place with a warm bed and good food.

And vice versa.  That's priceless...….and certainly worth the investment of hours of your time getting to know someone.  I only see these folks 4 times a year or so, but after more than 6 years and 12 campouts of 3-4 days each (with 2-3 fireside chats, SHTF games and classes), we know who's worth helping out and who's all talk.  That matters, as you've learned.

I definitely need to log in more often as I had to strive to remember this thread from way back. Up A Creek said it well and boy do I know something or two about intensity! LOL

Starlady backed it up perfectly as well. Actually those of us with land and might or might not be considered weekend warriors pretty much are camping. If a few days in the woods with like minded folks learning, listening and getting to know each other as well as seeing how they handle a little off grid environment isn't for you - well I can promise you a long weekend each month or more south of the gnat line working on various projects with your group will not be to your liking as well. Best to cure yourself of the notion now.

With the attitude on display I remain curious what you hope to achieve?

i gave up my home here in georgia to go to ky to help create a damn place where people could come to in the case of a collapse and in turn got screwed out of nearly half of what i had. i did not give up but instead found someone else who wanted a small farm kind of thing so i went and helped them create it. as we neared the end of the project i began looking for something permanent and found 3 different times people who claimed to want to create a place where people could come to in the case of a collapse and all 3 times got it jammed up my ass and because i was already committed to leave by a specified date i was committed to vacate the place in ky where i was living. what part of this did you miss? did you not read what i stated which explained how this all happened? i am not transient as you call it by choice. this was forced on me because people committed to something then backed out with no warning which left me in this situation. i lost a 27' 5th wheel camper which was my home because i had no way to move it because these people failed to follow through. i do not drive nor do i own a vehicle so there is no way i could move my supplies let alone someone elses. it is apparent i am wasting my time here so i will bid you all farewell and hope you never find yourself in a similar situation and no one willing to step up. dont bother responding because i will not be returning which means i will not see anything you post.

And THIS, my friends, is why we don't just invite random people to align with us. Jeez... LOL.
