Just signed up. A friend gave me a card for this site. I was filling out my profile.  I'm curious why ARES is listed as option, but not RACES.

Welcome aboard!  Make yourself at home and jump in.

I'll leave it to the Lilburner to answer the question, but as far as I know, you're the first to ask for RACES.

ARES is the Amateur Radio Emergency Service
RACES is similar but its the Radio Amateur Emergency Service.

I'm a net controller for our RACES training nets here.  I found it curious that one was listed and not the other.

Welcome aboard and make yourself at home!

As Country Singer pointed out, no one has ever asked for a RACES badge.

I've seen RACES mentioned in various publications, but never met anyone who was involved. I assumed it was kind of defunct.

Welcome gigabyte. Thanks for the study site info. I like the format of the flash cards. FYI all I am the friend that gave him the card.

I figured that...  I was just welcoming you with a (apparently) very weak attempt at humor....

Thanks for the welcomes everybody.

RJ.  I got your humor. Don't worry. 😅

Lilburner. RACES is still alive and well. There are some differences between the two and there some people that are in both RACES and ARES.

We have a training net each Sunday night at 2030 on the N4TUN repeater in Cullman, AL.
