Stalk Hunt
« on: September 04, 2015, 10:22:01 PM »
So after receiving a few PMs, I'm just going to make this open invitation. If y'all want, I'll do a stalking hogs and deer class..in let's say...4 weeks so October 3rd. I honestly don't know very much, but stand hunting seems to be most common around here, and I find my buddies at the lease tripping over deer scat at every step. We will go pre season, for safety reasons, to the allatoona WMA, then maybe have a picnic at a nearby.

Id cover: locating game trails, identifying tracks (and I know a sure spot to find them ), maybe scat signs depending on what we find, and whatever I think of between now and then.

Stalking is the only way I hunt during archery season.  Gun season I still don't use a stand. I just bed down in good cover and wait.

I prefer to stalk with a rifle, as mistakes matter less when you're at max visible-through-undergrowth range.
