2024 Fall camp out
« on: August 10, 2024, 07:01:26 PM »
I was reminded that I had not set the dates for the Fall Camp Out. After the disappointing turn out this spring I was wondering if there was still any interest. Turn out there still is.  SOOO! Mark your calendars.

Looking forward to seeing everyone! Bring a friend or two.

The 2024 Annual Fall Camp out - October 4 - October 6 at  Cedar Creek WMA. If you wish to arrive on Thursday the 3rd, you'll have plenty of company for the extra day. If you can't camp with us, come down for the day trip. Most planned activities will be concentrated on Saturday.

Cedar Creek is located south of Monticello on GA Hwy 212. Our camp site is across from the Check Station (N 30* 13' 45.1 W 83* 31' 36.1) on Checking Station Road. If Googling, google Cedar Creek Check Station or you might get directions to the range which is a different road off 212.

Specifically, here: https://goo.gl/maps/jKXeHv1JbKm The campground is on the opposite side of the gravel road from the Checking Station on the map, and just a hair BEFORE it. The path into the woods is subtle and some would say hard to see, but accommodates the largest of RVs. If you drive fully up TO the Checking Station, you've gone too far. HOPEFULLY there will be a yellow banner out by Thursday afternoon marking the turn.

Start picking out your auction item donations! The Saturday evening donation auction is a highlight of the event and our only source of income, and everything goes back in to SEPN 100%. It pays for the domain and the website. In the past we were able to subsidize the Christmas party for all attendees. I'd like to see us doing more activity in the future.

No camping fee: SEPN is picking up the bill for Port-A-Potties this year. No GORP/WMA pass is required at this site

Activities: No classes or formal events planned yet. Hopefully that will change before the event. If you have an idea, let us know.

Awesome! I plan to be there. There should be four of us in two tents, and I am going to try to get some other first-timers from the local area to come as well.

Hey! I would like to get a head count. So if you have any interest in attending, Sound off!

We had our Region 6 meeting today with a great turnout! The topic was Small Camping Stoves. We probably had over two dozen different types of stoves on display. Six people conducted a Show and Tell about the various stoves that they brought. It was a great opportunity to learn about different stoves without having to spend money on them. The Show and Tell was very informative. At the meeting, I made another announcement about the SEPN 2024 Fall Campout. Here are the results:

I will be attending with my usual clan of 4 campers in two tents. There will also be 2 "new" campers (to the SEPN campout) in two more tents, with one maybe.

In addition, there should be 3 to 4 day-trippers coming in on Saturday to see what SEPN campout and the group, in general, are all about.

That totals 6-7 campers on Friday and Saturday and 3-4 daytrippers visiting on Saturday if everyone shows up.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone again. Who else is coming???
