South Georgia Winter Storm - Enzo
« on: January 21, 2025, 03:20:05 PM »
It has been snowing here in Region 8 for the last 30 minutes.  The temperature is 30 Deg F.  It is forecast to snow all night.  Maybe I can get a picture in the morning to post.  It is also forecast to remain cold and the snow is supposed to hang around a couple days.  The bad thing is it is covering my solar panels so they will not charge my batteries when the snow quits and the sun comes back out.  If they were on a ground mount I could wash them off with a water hose but sadly they are up high.  SO,  I am charging my batteries from the grid and hoping the grid  stays up.

Well,  The snow has qiit leaving up 4 or 5 inches.  I called the Dr office this morning and they are closed.  In fact everything around here is closed.  The busy hiway out front is deserted.  Everything is closed Region 8 near I75.
When I went outside to take these pictures I noticed there is a layer of ice under the snow.  The weather forecast says it will be too cold all day for any of it to melt.  Notice my solar panels on my shop building covered in snow.  Bo solar power today !

We got 4 inches here.  Really beautiful so I had to walk through the swamp to get to the back of the property.

On a side note, for the first time since I’ve been following earthquake activity there have been no measured earthquakes in the continental US.  Some (not me) may think this is a good thing…. Actually smaller earthquakes are a way for the earth’s crust to relieve pressure of the shifting tectonic plates.  If they are not shifting then the pressure could theoretically cause a massive earthquake once it finally does shift.  Just thought this was interesting?
