Anyone make peanut butter?

I'm a peanut butter freak, and I prep it out the wazoo, but I'm trying to cut down on commercial peanut butter because I can do without the sugar.

There are "natural" sugar free peanut butters, but honestly I'm not enthused about natural peanut butters.

The BEST peanut butter is right out of a grinder. You used to be able to get it at Kroger. The only place I've seen it in years is Whole Foods, of which there are none convenient to me. I was hoping when Sprouts came to town, they'd have it.

I've researched it till my head is swimming. All the different ways you can make it without a grinder. But I assume, ultimately the separation of "natural" peanut butter would occur, and I'd rather have it fresh and on demand like a grinder.

Most of the ones I'm seeing are multiple thousands of dollars. There's a cheap one, but you have to add oil, which I assume isn't conducive to leaving it out.

Curious if anyone had explored this.

Due to the short shelf life of peanut butter, I store the powdered peanut butter which must be mixxed up to consume.  The chocolate/peanut butter is also good.  It comes in #10 cans with 6 cans to a case for those that like it as much as I do.

I was at the Kroger in Sandy Springs today (Hammond Drive) and sure enough, they had peanut grinders all set up to make your own peanut butter.....it was on a row that I never go down, but they moved stuff around in the store, so I had to go down almost every row to find what I was looking for.....

I posted here and took a different approach on Nextdoor - asked if people knew where to get it locally. Turns out the second/third (possibly tied) closest Kroger to me has it.

I'll probably go that route for a while until I get homemade figured out. I want a good machine that I can leave assembled like they do in the store. I don't want to have to clean it every week.

Probably a good opportunity to try to keep my eyes out for a used commercial one.

The shelf life on my canned powdered peanut butter is about to run out so I am now making my peanut butter from powder.  I thought it needed a little oil so I bought a small bottle of peanut oil.  Peanut oil has a short shelf life before it goes rancid.  I mixed a cup of powder and a table spoon of oil some water and a little honey.  The result was some GOOD tasting peanut butter.  The honey made the difference.  We eat a lot of soup & salad which goes well with Ritz cracker peanut butter sandwiches.
