State of Georgia Halts Poultry Sales
The Georgia Department of Agriculture announced the suspension of all poultry-related activities in the state after a case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza was detected in a commercial facility.

The positive case of HPAI, found by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service at a commercial poultry operation in Elbert County, Georgia, was the first discovered in a commercial operation in the Peach State, according to a Jan. 17 notice from the Georgia Department of Agriculture.

That means all “in-state poultry exhibitions, shows, swaps, meets, and sales are suspended until further notice.

Headline is misleading.  They halted “activities” but that’s really not related to processing the birds.  I saw a similar headline so I looked up what halting the activities means.  Is bird flu a problem for the chicken industry, absolutely because once found in a commercial flock they are destroyed and the quarantine area is 6 miles around the infected facility.  The media loves to share propaganda via sensationalistic headlines meant to scare the masses….

Btw, it’s also winter so it’s cold.  I remember back in summer when it was hot!  Is this snow we received unusual?  Yes!  Is it unprecedented, no.  I remember growing up in the 70’s when we had up to a foot of snow in SOWEGA on a few occasions.  The media is pushing their made up “climate crisis” BS full bore and sadly many people are falling for their propaganda 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️…. As for me, I’ll drive my 4x4, burn my wood stove, cook and heat my water with gas and allow my cows to fart!  If all of these politicians actually believed in any of this BS do you think they’d all be buying ocean front properties?  Rant over….

Thanks.  Your comments come just a little late as I have Dehydrated chicken chunks on order already.  25 year shelf life.

Those will still come in handy!  I have a lot of canned chicken that we put up a number of years ago.

I only had a few small cans of store bought chicken chunks in my pantry.  I took them up to the BOL for the guys hunting out of the place this winter.  As long as chicken is available at the grocery, the wife won't use the canned chicken so it was a chance to get it used up.
