2025 SEPN Event Calendar

Hey Guys,

It is again time for us to do some calendar planning.

I would like to propose that SEPN schedule five events this year to encourage people to participate in 2025. These are events that I and many others previously enjoyed attending. I believe that if we schedule these events early, put them on the web calendar and banner, and start posting about them regularly, we should have good attendance. I am not volunteering to become the SEPN activity coordinator! I am simply suggesting events that I think might get people to participate this year and encouraging you to put them on the schedule.

I am hoping that we can arrange some presentations and/or show and tell this year. Once the campout dates are firm, I will start trying to get folks to commit to making presentations. I am already aware of some topics of interest and have some potential presenters in mind.

These dates, locations, and events can be changed if needed to encourage the largest attendance. I picked them because they are similar to what and where we had activities in the past.

 

PROPOSED DATES, LOCATIONS, AND EVENTS

22 or 29 March 2025            Winter Get Together at Panola Mt. State Park (Pot Luck)

2-4 May 2025              Spring Camp out at Cedar Creek WMA

16 or 23 August 2025           Summer Get Together at Panola Mt. State Park (Pot Luck)

3-5 October 2025        Fall Camp out at Cedar Creek WMA

6 December 2025       Christmas Party at Panola Mt. State Park

 

Please look at the proposed dates and post what you think. We will lock the dates by 31 January 2025. Then once the dates are published on the SEPN web calendar and the first scheduled event is put on the website banner, we can start online announcements and discussions to build interest and attendance.

The March 29th date is better for me. The previous weekend is the one that I go to Helen, Ga for the Sampler Guild Retreat. This is the only vacation/getaway that I do.
 I am so heartbroken that it has become too hard for me to tent camp. I really miss being able to camp with friends, it was the highlight of my year. 😢
We are getting so little participation here on the forum, that I fear it may be more trouble than it is worth.
I totally understand that most of us long time users don’t have a lot of new stuff to share as we are just keeping
on.
Please give the moderators some feedback.

Greetings everyone. I hope you are surviving the snow across the state this week. We got 3.5 inches here in middle GA, but the real issue has been ice and frozen roads since the snow partially melts each day and then freezes each evening causing slippery roads.

The Spring and Fall Campout dates work for me. As to the get-togethers I prefer the March 29th and the August 16th dates as the others conflict with other scheduled events.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the Spring Campout this year. Hopefully, it will be a bigger and better event than the last one, which was a lot of fun.

Depending on when Grandbean#10 decides to show up, I have a real possibility of attending either the spring get together or a partial day of the campout.

I have been asked to present a solar electric class at the Spring campout so I will start preparing for that as soon as it warms up a bit.  My camper is not operational so I may have to day trip.  I added up all the repair costs (estimated) and it adds up to $5000+.   So that may not happen as I am using any available funds for my Region 2 BOL.  Always choices.  I always told my boys when they were growing up "Life is a series of choices". 

Pencil me in for 10AM Saturday.

 OK! I just booked Picnic shelter #4 at Panola Mountain State Park for March 29, 2025. I'll be there at 11am to check in. I think we should start at noon. The next question is what do we want to do about food? Let me hear your ideas.

Food! That always brings in more people. This will be a great opportunity for us to all get together and socialize for an afternoon.

I would suggest it be a potluck of some kind. You could use a free signup page like https://www.signupgenius.com/ to have folks list what they are bringing. This will allow everyone to see what others are bringing as well. You can also use a site like this to post a list of desired dishes and ask people to sign up for each one. There are many ways to plan this. Along these lines, is SEPN going to provide a main dish like meat, or is all the food going to be provided by the people attending? It can go either way, but it may make a difference in what people decide to bring.

Are there going to be any additional activities planned such as raffles or door prizes? While not necessary, it could add some zing to the gathering. What would you like to see at the "Winter Get-Together"?

I'm with Farside, post your ideas and desires so we can make this a fun event for everyone.

It would be a good idea to get this event posted to the SEPN Homepage Banner as our next event instead of the 2022 Spring Campout!

I can pick up hot dogs, hamburgers and bums. Also the grilling set up.

I can bring baked beans, just need a good idea of how many people to plan for as time gets closer. We always have too much food left over.
