General Prepping Discussion / Re: Heads Up for Milton !« Last post by RWS on October 08, 2024, 07:10:03 PM »Well I am changing out batteries on my house solar system. I had 8ea 8A8D batteries for 7&1/2 years. They finally gave up the ghost. I had help last Thursday loading them into my truck for the trip to the recycle place. 1348 Lbs of batteries. Today the truck lines delivered 4 ea AES 5120 LiFePo batteries. I managed to get them racked up but am tired and will cable them up tomorrow and get them charging. Just in time for Milton which does not have much of a chance to head this way. Tomorrow I should have a new 20Kwh battery in service. I get 2 days out of 20Kwhs. If there is sunshine I get another day.

for a fair comparison I'd have to put the AC 180 and delta 2 up against my single battery milk crate in the last pic I posted my milk crate has a 100ah battery and 2kw inverter the battery is 200$ the inverter is 150$ - not on sale HF has a 1800watt inverter for 125$ - not on sale so I'm at 300$ and I still need battery cables, connectors, plugs, USB and DC ports plus 110V charger and solar charger the delta is 418$ to my door. thats pretty good 4

Here's a Will video comparing purchased vs DIY generators. It's kind of apples to oranges because of the power difference he is talking about vs the delta 2, but he does mention that the ecoflow pro is kind of underpowered in terms of PV input. The delta 2 is at a similar ratio of output watts to solar input. He doesn't say anything about reliability which is my number one priority. He's such an enthusiastic dude, it's hard not to agree with him.
@Surveyor Thanks, good to know. Do you have the inverter or open frame version? My home power situation is very similar. 5

Cost has gone up since I bought mine for $250.00 but my experience has been positive. Keep in mind my home is very energy efficient but I ran my whole home consisting of 1 freezer, 2 refrigerator freezers a 15,000 btu AC and lights and tv’s. I ran 14-16 per day for 10 days and used approximately 50 gallons (or pounds) in propane. My 500 lb tank went from 75% full to 65% full! If you have a propane tank at home, in my opinion propane is the only way to go. No trying to treat gasoline, no fouled up carburetors, no carbon on plugs and best of all no running around trying to find gas or having to refill constantly . No complaints here!

it's comes in a little cheaper after discount and has a battery expansion plug but the AC 180 has quieter fans honestly it's a toss up I'll watch a few more reviews and decide tonight 7
General Prepping Discussion / Re: Helene Making Storm Preparations« Last post by Surveyor1 on October 08, 2024, 04:44:31 PM »Finally after 10 days we got power and after 12 days we cleared our drive enough to leave the property. All in all we did not suffer. We consider ourselves very lucky that we are prepared.

It's tempting, but they all get a lot of one star reviews. Lots of complaints about reliability and bad customer service. Also, if you want to expand you have no modularity. It looks like the Delta 3 is getting better reviews but they only go back to September. Price on the Delta 2 seems to be heading consistently down: https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B0B9XB57XM
That being said, what is your preferred model? Maybe I need to reconsider. |
