ok not that tank

I'm looking for a cheap/free scrap well tank with busted bladder, old air compressor, water heater, 100gal lp tank or similar
40-100gals or so, can't be too rusted, I need it to hold pressure other than that, I'm not too picky

also not in a rush, just collecting parts for a project thats on the back burner

You and me both!

I want to do a batch water heater.

Ultimately I want to store enough water to switch my well to dedicated, batteryless daylight only operation, but I'm thinking I need working pressure tanks in series.

Do you have nextdoor.com where you lived? I haven't tried yet, but assumed it would be a source for failed water heaters.

water heaters are probably the trickiest. the heaters/burners can be repaired pretty cheaply, usually water heaters get tossed when the tanks rust through

I think we'll have the best luck with the well tanks. the rubber breaks, but the tanks are still good
or abandoned lp tanks
