My wife has decided that we are going to an event the first full weekend of October.  So, October 1 & 2 are Saturday and Sunday.  My question is is that a full weekend.  October 7th, 8th and 9th are what I consider a full weekend so I may have a conflict.  I will try to find this event online and verify the dates.
Edit:  Found it, no conflict with the campout.

Indian Summer Festival – October 1 & 2

For a truly fantastic experience, attend the Indian Summer Festival the first weekend in October in Suches, Georgia. Activities include a craft show, 10K run, country square dance, weaponry demonstration, auction, play performed by elementary students, and much more! suches.com/festivalinfo.htm

would any campers be interested in learning to butcher quail ?

I have a few lazy hens who stopped laying so it's time for them to turn into stew

if you want to see a demo or try your hand at it, let me know in the next week or 2
if not, I'll get them in the pot before camp

Looks like I have my schedule worked out so I will have my camper home for campout weekend.  I hope it cools off a little as I have gotten used to the cooler weather of Region 2 at 3000 ft and there is always a breeze.
What should I bring ?? for the auction?  I need to see what would be good for a prepper to have.....I would bring a sampling of my home canned goods but I think that is illegal to sell in Georgia.

Edit 9-24   This morning I woke up to 57 deg F.  What a pleasant surprise!  This is camping weather!!

I got thinking that some new people would not know where to go.

The Annual Fall Camp out - October 07-09 at Cedar Creek WMA. If you wish to arrive on Thursday the 8th, you'll have plenty of company for the extra day. If you can't can't camp with us, come down for the day. Most planned activities will be concentrated on Saturday.

Cedar Creek is located south of Monticello on GA Hwy 212. Our camp site is across from the Check Station (N 30* 13' 45.1 W 83* 31' 36.1) on Checking Station Road. If Googling, google Cedar Creek Check Station or you might get directions to the range which is a different road off 212.

Specifically, here: https://goo.gl/maps/jKXeHv1JbKm The campground is on the opposite side of the gravel road from the Checking Station on the map, and just a hair BEFORE it. The path into the woods is subtle and some would say hard to see, but accommodates the largest of RVs. If you drive fully up TO the Checking Station, you've gone too far. HOPEFULLY there will be a yellow banner out by Thursday afternoon marking the turn.

Watch this thread for more details. As classes, activities, etc. are added, the details will be added to this main post as well.

Start picking out your auction item donations! The Saturday evening donation auction is a highlight of the event and our only source of income, and everything goes back in to SEPN 100%. It pays for the domain and the website. Last year we were able to subsidize the Christmas party for all attendees, and this year there's even more. specifically...

No camping fee: SEPN is picking up the bill for Port-A-Potties this year. No GORP/WMA pass is required at this site

Looks like another trip without the camper.

Some of y'all may remember at the spring campout, my camper decided to no longer be waterproof during the brief but violent squall. This was on top of what appeared to be some sort of national bias ply tire shortage with my tires on their last legs.

I haven't had time to rectify them, and I'm not going to be able to in a week and a half. So I'll stay the night nearby.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

As much as we wanted to be at the campout it looks like curse of the campout struck again. Our son just made Journeyman Wireman and the dinner will be? You guessed it October 15th! We were really excited to showoff the new camper but our son comes first, maybe the spring.

Gonna be some good campfire weather. It’s gonna be great to see old friends as well as old friends we haven’t seen in a while, and hopefully make some new friends. I’ll be getting there Thursday and hopefully setting up in the same place. We’ve got a couple of items for the auction and I’ll be looking for some more before I leave.

Potluck Saturday night!  So far the menu is:  Pulled Pork, Salad, Corn casserole.  If interested we need buns, desert or any other side that you may specialize in😎…. Just let us know what you want to bring so we don’t end up with duplicates.  If you have a special sauce that you like please bring, the pork will be cooked with no sauce since everyone’s palette is different 🤔…. Looking forward to the fellowship!

Thanks RWS, I appreciate that you overlooked my spelling and will be bringing a dessert and not a desert🤦‍♂️…. I have absolutely no doubt after eating her strawberry rhubarb pie that anything that she makes will be “heavenly”!!!

The wife & I were just going over what I am taking to eat this weekend.  She said she was making some Brunswick stew.  I asked to make a big pot and I would take some to campout.  She said OK.

PS:  I will bring some small disposable bowls also.

Brunswick stew!!!!!!!! One of my favorite dishes that I NEVER get because there’s only one place within 30 miles of me that makes it. Can’t wait!!!

My Mama makes a pretty good chicken Brunswick stew, but it’s not the same.

We will be arriving Friday mid-morning. We will bring 4 packs of Hamburger buns for those that want them and a package of disposable plates for the potluck. Do we need anything else?

VoodooMD sent me a message saying he will be there Saturday morning and tenting it overnight. He also said he is bringing a couple of pies.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Wish we could be there, but our systems here right now are too hard to just walk away from.  I am hatching chicks, the greenhouse and gardens are hard to leave.  We have created a prison for ourselves here.  I wanted to come, but we don't even own a tent or camper.  Thor said I could go, but don't see how I could.  I am very sad about missing it!
We have been thinking about all of you and so happy you have perfect weather!  Enjoy!

The fellowship was great as always!  It’s always good to spend time with friends!

Let’s talk about Saturday night’s Pot Luck.  Thanks to everyone for bringing the food and supplies!  Special shout out to Mrs Surveyor1 for the incredible pulled pork and The Commander for the corn casserole!  The Dutch oven apple/cinnamon roll cobbler with chopped pecans that TLWagg made right in front of us was simply insane!  The smell of that cooking would make a Monk end his fasting!🤔…. I’ve never met Mrs RWS but I’ve tasted her cooking.  I simply don’t understand why RWS is not the same size as me???  She supplied 2 items, homemade Brunswick stew which was the best I’ve had in 40 years.  I wanted to eat another bowl but after eating her strawberry rhubarb pie at the last camp out we attended there was no way I was going to miss her blueberry delight!  I was not disappointed and was actually the first person to put a spoon into it and let’s just say I was not disappointed!!!

Looking forward to the next camp out and wondering (or fantasizing) about what goodies Mrs RWS has in store for us next time!

Try out these water bricks,  They have a pour spout sold seperately.  I found them online and ordered 3 to go with my 20 water bricks.  With a water brick sitting on the kitchen counter, you can turn the valve and fill a glass or pan.  3.5gal is about all I want to carry at a time.

I am a little late with this post, but I want to say that this is the largest number of campers I have seen yet on each day of the campout plus we had several day-trippers come out on Saturday. I hope that this trend continues.

It was great to see all the regulars as well as some new faces. The Camaraderie is the best part of the campouts! It was fun to sit around the fire and talk about whatever subjects came up.

The Pot Luck Dinner on Saturday was a real hit, especially with all the homemade foods and desserts that were brought. Like most people there, I ate too much and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Once again thanks to Farside and Lilburner for organizing this great event. I am already looking forward to the Spring Campout. I hope to see you there!

It was great seeing everyone after so long. We hope to be more active now that we have more time that we can be away from home. I'll have to find a Dutch Oven recipe to cook next time.
