I need new shows. I'm on Netflix now, but if someone could make a compelling argument to add a service, I might consider it. I'm grandfathered into an Amazon Prime sharing plan, but I don't get the video. I'm also curious about some of the free options if there are any series or good movies - Roku and whatnot - I haven't really investigated those too much - think I watched one movie on Roku channel.
On Netflix I enjoyed Stranger Things and Narcos. I would have watched Narcos sooner, but I didn't know it was a biopic/docudrama. It's one of the better things I've seen in a while.
Punisher was good, but not as good as some people make it out to be. I thought it was a little slow-moving for a comic adaptation, not that that's a big genre for me, but I guess I like more punching and fighting and shooting in my comic book movies/series.
Just finished up The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story. that was good - really brought back the era. Hard to believe it was over 20 years ago! they kept having to explain what DNA was - hard to believe. It was an all-star cast, too, with Cuba Gooding Jr, John Travolta, Sarah Paulson, and Courtney Vance should probably gert an award for his Johhny Cochran. It's a 10 part season and it really tells the story nicely.
One of the best and most fascinating documentaries I've seen in a while was called Wild Wild Country about a commune in Oregon in the 80's. Apparently it was national news, but it was my last two years of high school and first two years of college, so I was probably a bit self-absorbed. It encompassed everything from free sex to politics to attempted mass murder. I had no idea. It's a six part series.
The End of the F***ing World I found interesting if you like needlessly bizarre twists delivered against a painfully subtle setting in a classically English dry delivery. Definitely not for everyone.
I've heard good things about Longmire and Altered Carbon. I'm not generally a sci-fi person - haven't even seen all the Star Wars movies.
I want to say I heard there's a new show with J.K. Simmons, in which case I need to check it out.
What are y'all watching?
I like thrillers and crime I think the most - good comedies to mix things up.
Some other shows I've liked have been Bosch, The Wire, Justified, Deadwood, Six Feet Under, Dexter, Breaking Bad...

We only have basic cable and I could use advice as well.
Hubby is a movie addict.
He's been collecting used Blu-Rays on the cheap to build up a library in case broadcasting continues to "fail" or we run out of money for entertainment in his retirement.
So Lilburner, I can lend you killer adventure flicks. :)

We let our Direct TV go in order to economize. We have Netflix and amazon and all those type channels. I’ve watched what old classic movies I could without paying and now do a bit more reading.

lately i've been more toward Prime Video than Netflix. Both are good. I tried Hulu for a month, was not impressed. Can't really say about the others.

Shooter - the series was good. It's only 2 seasons right now. The first season more or less followed the book. The movie might be good too. I haven't seen it.
Mindhunter is disturbing and a bit slow to start, but interesting. Adairsville even made an appearance.
Punisher - the series or movie
Walking Dead - Too much drama and not enough gut munching for my taste - I like the really bad special effects of earlier zombie movies.
Jericho
The Last Kingdom

Have you tried using a TV antenna? You may be able to get a couple of stations.

Shooter movie was OK as a movie, but deviated way, way far from the book.
haven't watched any of the show yet. But I plan on it.
