myself and the chief will be there
-
I'm planning on it!
With a bunch of devilled eggs...……...a few without mayo....for Chief!
-
I'll be there! Planning on a creamy berry dessert.
-
I think I remember hearing SEPN was providing the meat. However, I was thinking about bringing a spiral cut ham and since they had a full kitchen, baking it in the oven. Then it could be served a little warm. Then we will bring an apple salad from those delicious Ellijay apples we got and maybe a vege like butter beans.
We take the spiral cut hams camping (when it is a family campout) as they are easy to feed a group with.
-
RWS, I'm picking up a ham for the club, and a bucket of chicken. The rest sounds fantastic.
-
OK. I will leave off the ham and see what else I can bring. That's why I posted it was to see if it was appropriate.
-
Finally got the forum header updated.
I brought gallons of sweet and unsweet tea and lemonade to the summer event, along with cups and ice. I'll sign up for that again. Also some bottled water.
-
I'll bring some coconut macaroons, forgotten cookies, and something healthy - not sure what yet.
-
Would like to go but unfortunately will be working that day :(
-
Husband and I will be there. I will bring homemade scalloped potatoes. Looking forward to meeting so many kindred spirits!
-
We have some small sweet shrub in one of out flower beds. (volunteers) The wife want to dig them up and discard. I told her to wait and I would check & see if anyone wanted one. I can dig it up, pot it and bring to the Christmas party. I am told that preppers like it for some reason. I think it is medicinal. You can send me a PM (private message) so as not to fill up the thread.
PS: I have had a talk with the boss and we decided on what we are bringing to the Christmas Party.
We have 2 rows of cabbage now ready so a cabbage casserole. Then we have a 5 gal bucket full of butternut squash, so a squash/apple casserole. Sweet with sugar and a touch of cinnamon. Then everyone likes home made bread, so, a tray with slices of apple bread, pumpkin bread and chocolate zucchini bread. That's all folks........
Not quite, I potted up 5 pots of Tumeric to pass out some way. I will let Lilburner figure that out. Turmeric seems to do well down here. I planted one earlier in the year, got 5 pots, broke off several more bulbs and replanted it all. Looks like I will have a lot next year if it makes it thru the winter OK.
-
If I'm in charge of the turmeric, then I get some ;)
Farside is doing the gift exchange. If I understand correctly from last year, the first round will be "white elephant" or "naughty Santa" or whatever all else people call it, with gift stealing. Then after the first round it's a straight drawing to pick something without stealing.
If no one else is claiming the oven, I will, or will set up sharing with someone timewise - or if we're heating the ham or whatever. We'll figure that out. I'm still doing the drinks, but these monster chicken pot pies have been haunting my dreams since I saw them in Costco last week. So I want to get one and cook it there. Is it an entree? Is it a side? Who cares?!
-
Have y'all caught on by now I take pictures of everything I encounter?
I could rival the Kardashian's Instagram - If A) I were into that, and B) People wanted to see store products, boxes, instruction sheets, legal documents, pricetags, guns, tools, farm equipment, trees, and just random weird stuff.
Thusly...

Lilburner, I was planning on having the wife warm up the casseroles just before serving. They will already be cooked and maybe still a little warm. It won't take long.
PS: We can do one dish in the crock pot. That way we can just plug it in to warm it back up. That will ease the oven usage some.
-
Id Like to toss our names into the hat.... we'd love to be there.... Looking forward to it.... can we get a listing to see what we still need … more than willing to pitch in. We hope that everyone is doing well! Miss everyone out there!
-
Didn't see any bread or rolls. But it looks like we have the rest of the basic covered. More sides and dessert wouldn't hurt.
-
I will bring some rolls and a desert
-
There is a slim chance my wife and I might make the Christmas Party. Just figured I'd drop a heads up...

It is with deep sadness that I have decided that I can not leave home for the length of time the Christmas get together will require.
My Mother is requiring close supervision at this time, she can't manage her medications anymore and had them really messed up until I took them over this past weekend.
She suffers from anxiety and panic attacks and can be difficult to handle when this happens.
Know that I will be there in spirit and sorry I can't come. One never knows how long care giving will go on.
Please take the time to welcome Abigail and hubby as I had hoped to attend with them since we are not too many miles apart. How nice to finally have self-sufficiency folks near me. :)
They are really looking forward to meeting everyone and I have told them what a great group of trust worthy folks we are.
Have fun Saturday everyone!

Looks like I WILL be able to make it! ;D Anything else needed? Drinks, ice, more bread and deserts? Mashed potatoes? Some other side dish? Let me know.
-
I have the drinks covered. Unless you want something other than sweet or unsweetened tea, lemonade, or water.
I see we have some rolls coming. Another kind of bread couldn't hurt. Dont' know how many are like me, but I like my ham in sandwich form.
Looking forward to seeing those who are coming! We'll miss the one who can't, and fingers crossed for the maybes (Happy Birthday RevJammer!). Looking forward, too, to meeting new friends!
-
The wife is in Atlanta today, heading home tomorrow.... have to do all the weekly work on THIS SATURDAY, ( >:() , Plus have to work on Sunday.... not how I wanted to spend my weekend...….
-
Has anyone signed up for mashed potatoes?
-
No. I seen scalloped potatoes, but no mushed.
-
Third and last change. We are now bringing a broccoli salad. Guess what we now have fresh from the garden? We are bringing a cabbage casserole. Guess what we have fresh from our garden? We will leave off the squash/apple casserole which will ease up on the oven use. And a plate of bread, apple, pumpkin and chocolate zucchini bread.
I hope to be there in time to help set up tables, ect.
-
We will be bringing a desert of some kind. She has not told me what yet. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again!
-
It was great to see everyone at the Christmas lunch today - sooooo much good food. A few uncommon faces - welcome back!
We did the 'steal' a present exchange again this year and the only present stolen was taken by a woman...…...from her hubby, LOL! The best part......it was tools. I'm still giggling over that.
Thanks to Lilburner & Farside for the organizing work, have a great Christmas everyone.
-
Thanks to everyone who came out! Had a great time with everyone, enjoying meeting new (and old!) people for the first time, and missed those who weren't there.
After a couple events there, I think the room really works for us. Thanks to Farside for reserving it and bringing the forum-sponsored food.
-
Thor and I had a really good time at the Christmas party. You all made us "newbies" feel very much at home. It is great to put names with faces. Of course, now we have two names for each of you, plus one face to go with every two.! Thank you for all the effort and time it took to put it together. The gifts we took home were very meaningful. Thank you for not 'STEALING" mine (whole other story). My turmeric is happy in the greenhouse and we are looking forward to Christmas. Sorry we did not get to say goodbye to each of you, so want to wish you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, Abigayle and Thor...
-
Glad I could make it out, albeit late but still, I finally made it! I've missed so many of you and was so glad to see you again ;D Not to mention the new faces I hadn't had the chance to meet before. What awesome presents - I'm already thinking of what to bring next year 8) Now, if I can just carve out some time to make it to the camp out - even if just for a day trip.
Already looking forward to next time...
-
Had a great time and the chief says sorry to have missed it.
Now please please whoever made those cookies please share the recipe if you would. I was so stuffed I took a couple and now we are wishing we had some more!
As always looking forward to seeing you all soon
-
It was great to see everyone again (or for the first time). I love meeting at the park. It's so much less noisy than a restaurant. Thanks for setting it up and all the prep work.
The cookies were supposed to be fluffier, but I love anything coconut. Here you go - sorry if it's sideways
-
Thanks Upacreek! It looks like the only missing part is the temp and cook time. Can you confirm?
-
Better late than never. Thank you both for all your work in organizing this event. We felt so welcome. We were thrilled with our gifts. They will serve us well in many ways, including being a reminder of the wonderful people out there..
