Title: Best value way to terrace land?
Post by: Lilburner on September 14, 2019, 07:48:49 PM
I'm going to be getting a very expensive excavator rental to work on the pond, lay culvert, and do some general landscaping. I'm trying to fit in all the projects I can. (Not sure if the rental is for time only, or if they check hours. If they don't check hours I can keep it going 24 hours a day with some help.

One project I'm looking at is my sloping field. It would do better split into about thirds and leveled.

Anyone know good ideas for the retaining walls? Landscape timbers are the cheapest, but they're said to only last 7 years. Judging from some of my dad's ruined projects I dismantled, that sounds about right.

Railroad ties are expensive-ish and I've seen 100 warnings not to use them around food.

New pressure treated lumber adds up quick in cost.

Can't seem to find any deals on telephone/utility poles.

Any other thoughts I might be missing?

Interesting thought. Terracing with "V" channels.
