I looked at printing and it seemed overwhelming. I couldn't even figure out which one to buy. I found control pew's beginner vids and decided to jump in.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzCw2ccRhJI&t=1s
as of now there's only 2 vids in the series but a full guide here

3d printing has been fun and the Ender 3 isn't a bad printer but you'll need to make a few upgrades. If price isn't a factor I'd go with the Prusa mk3s it's a great printer no upgrades needed. One of the best things about it is it's made in the Czech Republic not China! They also make their own filament which is some of the best on the market.

Nice! I haven't done anything like that yet. I've been working on stuff for the radio or house. What dose it work with?

some 3d printing history and a getting started guide
guide starts at 22mins
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwoLJ6NGpXk
where I found my tec9 parts
https://everygunpart.com/manufacturer/intratec
they have every gun from time to time, but sell out fast so check several times a day
mac parts
https://www.velocityfirearms.com/
https://maf-arms.com/
https://cobray.com/
all those parts are in high demand and sell out fast,
I would look for a side cocking upper, it comes with a pic rail for optics
if you have a can make sure you get 1/2" threads on the barrel

glock 19 version 1 rails, use screws on rear rails
https://www.avesrails.com/G19-Rail-Kit-Tool-Steel_p_19.html
version 2, no screws, uses a one piece pinned rail so the frame you print is different and must match the rails
https://www.avesrails.com/FMDA-DD192-Rail-Kit-_p_29.html
the material doesn't matter. v1 was available in aluminum and steel but v1 are obsolete now.

to make it worse, there are other frames beside FMDA and other rails beside aves
I'm not sure if these are compatible

I printed FMDA frames and used aves rails so I know they match

Posting this on an unencrypted forum sounds like a great way to end up on a list. 3d printing firearms parts as anything but a materials specialist sounds like a great way to blow your hand off. 🤷♂️

I have no problem posting about activities that are not only legal, but are constitutionally protected.
with the exception of a few designs, 3d guns use plastic frames like factory glock frames and any of the numerous polly ar lowers
as you can see in those pics, we buy parts kits so all of the pressure is contained in metal parts like any other glock or AR
blowing our hands off has become a meme and a joke because it's just as likely to happen with a factory gun, ask Kentucky ballistics
ivan the troll, guy who used legos to mold ar lowers, goes by Al-nohandsy or something like on social media since his hands should have blown off hundreds of times over
a new gun can be bench tested, but most guys wear protection/armor and carefully pop off the first few shots, check for cracks and signs of failure, then continue on.
don't believe the commie fud. this hobby is as safe as you make it, like any other hobby

Everyone's talking about it. The more the better. It's all over the web and huge on social media.
The more people talking about it, and the more people doing it, that means more and more of us are small potatoes and uninteresting.
Yes it's legal, and yes it's protected. No one beyond the crack pipe fantasyland crowd has any notion that they can prevent it or even illegalize it. The regulations they're looking at are controlling other parts necessary to the build that can't be 3D printed. The current climate is to regulate more parts, like pistol slides and rifle uppers.
And besides, they know that all the law-abiding people would throw all their parts and printers in the garbage can if they ever wanted to make it illegal.
I can honestly say I've never seen an established design blow up catastrophically, injuring the shooter. I've seen prototypes that were tested with a string pull trigger blow up on the stand, but that's about it. Most designs only print pieces that experience no wear or only mechanical wear. Pistol frames, lower receivers etc., then the explodey parts are sourced separately.

nylon upgrayyedds :
flashing an ender
oldest ender3:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8YQ_yAusTY
all other ender 3:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQ7WZST8sqk
editing the max temp for the hotend:
set it 15 degrees higher than the max temp you want
this accounts for the 15 degree overshoot in the software
stock ender max temp is 260, but you can see the max is 275 in the vid.
I didn't know and had to do it twice
https://youtu.be/ire4ZcAUsjA?t=433
hotend I used, but lots of guys use the 8$ china hotend and it works
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mUT6dB5HcQ
dryer I bought:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B097BCG69C
but you can dryi in a toaster over or food dehydrator and store in plastic box with descant
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56-uro1Cw-0
glass bed for nylon, I used a 3$ piece of glass from the hardware store
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqb3CmxHsSk
enclosure - I hear it's not needed for some filament but helps stabilize temps and reduce warping
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B093H1J46W
harden nozzle, I'm using a cheap .6 - most guys recommend name brand to avoid CQ issues and improve print quality
I bumped up to a .6 to reduce clogging issues some carbon and glass filled filaments have
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08TTHS37V
cheaper nylon that I ordered to experiment with and tune the machine
https://www.amazon.com/Polymaker-Industrial-Filament-PolyMide-Reinforced/dp/B07S7QBQ3G
nylon recommended by AWCY gun developer group - same as duponts zytel which is no longer sold
https://coex3d.com/products/black-coexnylex-glassfilled-nylon
full disclosure, I haven't printed any nylon
I'm still tuning the printer on cheap pla to get as dialed in as I can before I start burning through expensive nylon
there's lots of options get into nylon, this is just what I found and decided to run so far

First off, that twelve year old kid needs to turn the music off on in the beginning of the video. I climbed the wall, ran the ceiling, and came down the opposite wall.
Always wonder how these things would fit.
Thor and I spent three hours putting together a fancy can stand for our "free kitten", to discourage it from using the furniture as a scratching post. Doubt that we will be making one of these anytime soon. Too bad he couldn't or didn't show what type of vision it offers in real time.
