Also let everyone know what you may be in need of or on the "look out" for as well. Maybe some one there may be able to put you on a good lead for it!

And for all you "seed savers" in the group---here is an opportunity to present your saved seeds for us folks getting our gardens ready for spring planting!!

And finally-"Part-2" of our "Region 6 Strategic Planning meeting for 2025"-- LOTS of excellent ideas and topics were discussed at the November "pot-luck" and wanted to continue with that and start "firming up" a prepping related educational topics schedule for our regularly monthly scheduled meetings and training sessions for us in 2025.-- Now is the time to let your ideas and suggestions be heard!!

As ALWAYS, SEPN Georgia Region 6 meets are open to EVERYONE from ALL SEPN Georgia Regions and to ANY folks who are interested in becoming more prepared! Please feel free to bring family and friends! We hope to see you there!  ;)

This is a good all around food storage video.  It will surprise you how much you already do.

The March 29th date is better for me. The previous weekend is the one that I go to Helen, Ga for the Sampler Guild Retreat. This is the only vacation/getaway that I do.
I am so heartbroken that it has become too hard for me to tent camp. I really miss being able to camp with friends, it was the highlight of my year. 😢
We are getting so little participation here on the forum, that I fear it may be more trouble than it is worth.
I totally understand that most of us long time users don’t have a lot of new stuff to share as we are just keeping
on.
Please give the moderators some feedback.

General Prepping Discussion / 2025 SEPN Event Calendar
« Last post by Farside on January 11, 2025, 01:01:42 PM »

Hey Guys,

It is again time for us to do some calendar planning.

I would like to propose that SEPN schedule five events this year to encourage people to participate in 2025. These are events that I and many others previously enjoyed attending. I believe that if we schedule these events early, put them on the web calendar and banner, and start posting about them regularly, we should have good attendance. I am not volunteering to become the SEPN activity coordinator! I am simply suggesting events that I think might get people to participate this year and encouraging you to put them on the schedule.

I am hoping that we can arrange some presentations and/or show and tell this year. Once the campout dates are firm, I will start trying to get folks to commit to making presentations. I am already aware of some topics of interest and have some potential presenters in mind.

These dates, locations, and events can be changed if needed to encourage the largest attendance. I picked them because they are similar to what and where we had activities in the past.

PROPOSED DATES, LOCATIONS, AND EVENTS

22 or 29 March 2025            Winter Get Together at Panola Mt. State Park (Pot Luck)

2-4 May 2025              Spring Camp out at Cedar Creek WMA

16 or 23 August 2025           Summer Get Together at Panola Mt. State Park (Pot Luck)

3-5 October 2025        Fall Camp out at Cedar Creek WMA

6 December 2025       Christmas Party at Panola Mt. State Park

Please look at the proposed dates and post what you think. We will lock the dates by 31 January 2025. Then once the dates are published on the SEPN web calendar and the first scheduled event is put on the website banner, we can start online announcements and discussions to build interest and attendance.

Widespread power outages in Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego counties were impacting more than 4 million customers at 2:30 p.m., according to the California Office of Emergency Services.

Los Angeles County, where the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire destroyed hundreds of homes, had the largest share of power outages, with nearly 1.9 million customers impacted.

The exact number of people without power wasn’t known, as each “customer” could represent an apartment or a home with several people living in it. Businesses are also marked as customers.

A new fire broke out in Los Angeles on Friday as several other fires are burning with near zero percent containment.

It appears that several individuals are going around starting these fires.  To me that is called a terrorist cell at work

Have you been following the Drone activity on the N East coast ?   Now The fires have been set on the West coast.  At the same time China has cut the internet cable to Taiwan.  It looks like China is going to surround Taiwan and control all imports and exports and all happening before Joe Biden is gone.   It is getting interesting.  War always brings on famine!

Food and Water / Re: Anyone make peanut butter?
« Last post by RWS on December 30, 2024, 06:34:26 AM »
The shelf life on my canned powdered peanut butter is about to run out so I am now making my peanut butter from powder.  I thought it needed a little oil so I bought a small bottle of peanut oil.  Peanut oil has a short shelf life before it goes rancid.  I mixed a cup of powder and a table spoon of oil some water and a little honey.  The result was some GOOD tasting peanut butter.  The honey made the difference.  We eat a lot of soup & salad which goes well with Ritz cracker peanut butter sandwiches.
