This is my first "real" post on the new board... hang with me!
I woke up this morning (for the second time) to a phone call from one of my previous clients. As I was talking to him, I felt the room suddenly start to spin and I began to get a little light-headed.
Now, for those of you who don't know me (which unfortunately is most of you), I would be what a friend of mine calls "moderately over-nourished" (in other words, I'm fat). So, while I don't have any history of serious health issues (BP, Heart, Sugar, etc); as big as I am dizziness is a concern for me. Mentally I begin to go through the list... BP, Heart, Sugar, Inner ear, etc, etc....
I wait it out for several hours, hoping it will go away and I can return to a semblance of normalcy. By noon, there has been some improvement, but I am still suffering from some effects. The Mrs. gets me a Dr. appt (haven't been to the Dr. for 3 years) for this afternoon. I get into a room and the nurse comes in, I explain my symptoms and I can immediately begin to read her mind... fat guy, dizziness, past his prime... she finally starts to take my vitals... BP.. not too bad 140/90.. Pulse, also not bad 92... heart rate, acceptable - 94 (or vice versa).
Then before checking anything else, she says the Dr. wants an EKG. I'm down for that... like I said, I have my concerns as well. So they strap me up to the doohickey and run the EKG. 10 minutes later the Dr. comes in to tell me that my EKG is perfectly normal! (Yay me!!!) She then proceeds to check my ears and sure enough, even though I have no ear ache... I have an inner ear infection and vertigo. She also signs me up for a full lab profile (Praise the Lord this is a county clinic and due to my income and no insurance they charge on a "sliding scale"). I should get the word back on my labs in a couple of days.. but other than the ear infection and vertigo, I have a pretty clean bill of health!
Will take a couple of days to get over it, but at least I know the ol' ticker is still in good shape!
Just a little heads up on my day today!
