Welcome Diehard, There are regional meetings held in some areas. If you state your region, it may help you with meetups. Most regions welcome others to their meetups. We tried one, but only had three people, other than Thor (husband) and myself. We may try another, should we get more interest. In the meantime, I am going to try a neighborhood M.A.G. (mutual assistance group), after scouting carefully, in walking distance. Voodo has done a great job, in his area and puts a lot of work into his meetings, as does Star Lady. Some regions are less active. If I have failed to mention some active meetups, I hold those involved will set me straight and send an invite your way.
