Project Appleseed in Canton Sept 16-17
« on: September 08, 2023, 10:40:31 AM »
Hi, guys.  I've been pretty quiet on here between trying to keep up and get things situated with my new house and getting a bit more involved in other things.  One of them is a favorite - Project Appleseed.  Most or all of you have heard of Appleseed, but those that don't know, it's a non-profit that teaches precision marksmanship and history (specifically US history centered on the start of the Revolutionary War).  I'm a bit biased, but it's pretty awesome and great at helping shooters get better whether they've never held a firearm before or they've been shooting for decades.  It's geared toward all ages from about 9ish on up. I became a shoot boss for them earlier this year and I have my first rifle shoot as shoot boss next weekend.  Shoot boss just means I get the paperwork.

This shoot is in Canton, GA on Sept 16-17.  It's at the Sheriff's range and they have restricted us to .22 rifles only.  We have plenty of loaners to share, if needed.  The talking portion of the shoot is in an air conditioned cushy seated classroom, with flush toilets, a microwave, and a coffee maker.  It's the glamping of Appleseeds.  It's $75 for a normal adult ticket.  $30 for kids, military active/reserve & Guard, LEO, disabled, re-enactors in period dress, & elected officials. https://appleseedinfo.org/location/?locationid=783&eventid=8932  I'm an hour away, but if you're traveling AND I know you, reach out if you need a place to crash.  Heckling is optional.

If Canton is too out of range, we have another coming up in Macon on Sept 30 - Oct 1 https://appleseedinfo.org/location/?locationid=98&eventid=8928  It's not as cushy, but has to be much cooler than the last one we did down there and the range is really nice.

While I'm hawking them, we have a known distance event too in Alabama next month.  We shoot out to 400 yards and explain, better yet, show and practice how to compensate for trajectory and environmental factors like wind and temperature.  This is centerfire only.  If you want to go to this one, you need to have recently attended a 25m shoot like the two I've listed.  Otherwise, you'll be lost on the different positions and sling uses, etc.  The known distance events are wicked fun. https://appleseedinfo.org/location/?locationid=877&eventid=8983

I'll be at all 3, but the last as a shooter.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
