what do you think? decent non-ham radio?
 project farm tested them at 6miles and it worked well
removable external antenna, looks like they use chirp too

or just get the baofeng?

price is about the same are the radios exactly the same?

I have no experience with these radios. I do have a number of different models of Baofeng that I program with Chirp. My first thought is to go with the Baofeng since all the accessories are interchangeable.

I agree with Richard....but what i dont see is anyway to program this radio manually from the keypad....

I third all that.

Except the original 888s had a rudimentary encryption called "beat shift" that more upscale radios didn't have. Easily defeated by someone who set their mind to it, but not meth heads so much.

Sounds like these have it, too.

I got a 10 pack of knockoffs one time just to add sheer numbers to backup. Never took them out of the box, but what the heck? The ones I got were something like "Retivis"
