My contractor called the other day with a couple questions. Since I was caught up in the garden and it had just rained for 2 days, I told him I would make a quick trip up. I was there all week. I have 7 peaches each on 2 of my peach trees and aphids eating the new growth on a third tree. I sprayed to protect the trees and fruit. While I was at a gas station a truck was fueling with the company name on the door. I asked the guy if he did service work and he did. He said he and his brother did some work at my place 2 weeks ago. He said the 2 horses pastured in the field next to me were his. I told him I had built a wagon that could be horse drawn. He said his mare would pull a wagon. When I take my wagon up, we are going to get together.
I am also getting my terrace cut into the hill behind the barn. I plan to install a second solar panel ground rack there.

I ha d a lady come over to my place (Job Site) to borrow some money from her father (the contractor). She said a mountain lion attacked her dog and almost killed it before the other two dogs heard the ruckus and came at full charge. I said a bob cat and she said no, it was a mountain lion. She lives over the mountain from me. The vet bill needed to be paid & she was borrowing money.
Last year a lady that lives just over the ridge from me said a mountain lion killed all her chickens. I asked Google and was told there are no mountain lions in Georgia. Talk about remote locations for a BOL ! A very challenging place to live.......

Things are coming along up at the BOL. The interior is done except for cleanup details like towel rack & medicine cabinet in the bathroom. The kitchen is done except for the tile splash panel wall covering above the counter top. My radio room is done (cubby hole) and operational. Now all we have to do is pay for it ! Next trip up we will carry the kitchen table & chairs. Hot & cold water is on upstairs and the propane is turned on. The gas range works.
Edit 7-12 I like my under the cabinet led light strips. They are even dim-able.

When you have a small mountain BOL there is not a lot of room for a radio room. So, here is my communications cubby hole. 2 views, opened up and doors closed. Notice under the top shelf I mounted 2 LED strips. I have them on low output and it gives plenty of light. Now all I need is a chair on wheel that swivels & rocks. Maybe by Labor Day!
The building inspector nixed any furniture until I get a final inspection completed and a certificate of occupancy. So, I did not bring up my kitchen table & chairs yet. Maybe by Labor Day.

Got a text this morning. Clyde is out again could I make a call to the owners dad and tell him since I have his number. When I replied back "done" I was told I have 2 black bears out in my field this morning.
Blackberries are getting ripe.

It's August so we are in Region 2. The goal this week is to pull wire for the mini-split heat pump. It is due to arrive any day now. Then the second goal is to build a ground rack for an additional string of solar panels. Once the AC is installed and the solar panels are mounted the contractor will be done for now. He put siding on the building last week and painted. Looks like I have a door to paint. Make that plural doors.

I installed rails to the ground mount solar panel rack that my contractor put in place. A friend of mine that is a hunter wanted to come up and help, so I told him he could help install solar panels. That is supposed to happen this Thursday.

It has been a long week. I put rails on the 2inch pipe rack ground mount. Today we mounted the solar panels. I had a friend come up and help as it is a 2 person job. When the sun gets low on the horizon this Winter and there are 7 cloudy days in a row, This solar panel array will help keep the lights on.
8-20 Today I located a herbalist in my neighborhood. That would be within walking distance. I put this information on file for later use.

Fun, Fun, Fun at the BOL. I was changing out the control panel on my inverter system with a newer model so I could use all the features of the inverter. Well I don't know what I did. I must have pushed a wrong button. Or maybe I should have shut it down first, whatever... It shut it's self down leaving the BOL in total darkness. The wife was using the coputer and it stayed up providing some light but internet went down. Starlink does not work without power. I was downstairs and she was upstairs. she grabed a flashlight and came down an inside stairwell with no windows. NO Problem! My emergency stairway lighting popped on when the power went away. Let me show you my emergency stairway lighting. When I wired the building I installed a couple of outlets down the stairway near the floor (steps). Then I plugged in an emergency light fxture. The thing is shaped like a flashlight and drops into a holder that in plugged in. It evidently charges using induction. It has a motion sensor if you walk by it in the dark it turns on a built in night light which times out and shuts off. I really like it now that I have seen it work. I searched and found many different brands. Link is for Homeless Depot
